Oil can make you money. But long hrs. Ive been in it since getting out in 07. I do Coil Tubing and it takes me all over the country. The pay isnt good starting off. But if you do apply yourself and stay. It gets very good. If you have a 4yr degree. Most companies will make you a engineer-send you to schools. Im from Odessa so I grew up in the oilfields. Its desert conditions. Midland is 16 miles away. 110,000 in each town. Odessa is blue collar. Midland white collar. Anyway the work isnt hard. South Texas is getting busy also.

Post 9/11 GI Bill = get paid to go to college.

I went to SAM and got my Associates with the GI Bill, and still have 5 years of free tuition from the Hazelwood Act since I joined the Army as a Texas resident.

When I got off of active duty, I joined the Navy reserves and did funeral detail. Pay was 1/4 drill pay per funeral. With that and GI Bill, I was clearing close to 5 grand a month when I first got out working minimal hours a week and 1 face to face class. Held me over til I found work as a chemical operator. I had way too much free time. Plus if you don't accept a bonus, you can drop your IRR chit at anytime to get out.

If they have an option like that for the Army I'd suggest looking into it, couldn't hurt.

KCS is right about the new GI Bill, it is bad ***. I go to school and receive about $1275 a month and they also pay for your classes plus some for your books.
