Default Stock driveshaft strong enough for LSX power?

Looks like me stock (already shortened for LT1/T56) driveshaft needs about another inch off to fit on my cutlass. Wondering if a stock driveshaft can take ~400rwhp or do I need to just get a new driveshaft. Last time I had it shortened/balanced (10 years ago) I think I paid $85; guessing it would be at least $100. Opinions on reusing stock driveshaft by taking out another inch or going new. If new, where is the best place for price/performance?

If it is steel I would say should be okay at 400rwhp but if stock aluminum - I would get a new one. There are some good sponsors on here who sell them.

I used a stock drive shaft with a N2O powered SBC, went 11:23@118. Never even wore out a U-jount.

Depends on what the driveshaft looks like and how you drive. I drive my Thunderbird like a stolen mule AND I have to drop the fuel tank down to change it. Since my man makes them locally for under $200 in one day to whatever dimensions I supply, it was barely a second thought - even on a budget.
