68 Camaro SS - LS1/4L60e conversion
I finally purchased an LS1 from crateenginedepot. I am very new to these engines so i have been getting alot of info from my friend (greasemonkeychef) who is doing a swap in a Nova. I just received the engine today so I created an account. I have been reading other posts for a while so I have started getting the feel of the site. I bought a long block so I will be researching for parts.
I have started doing the interior work while waiting for an engine. I started taking pictures so I can post info on the project

Welcome aboard Brad! This site is a wealth of info and great for parts. When he says check out the sticky's he means soon as you enter the hybid section you will see the sticky's in "yellow" at the top of the forum. There is a ton of info in there for parts needed and what not.
Now post some photos and before long you will be living on this site. Several guys are very helpful on here and some are PITA. Just dont be afaraid to aske questions here too. i am sure almost every question has been asked at least once and sometimes the search function is hard to find what you are looking for.

I have seen multiple oil pans used for the early Camaro build. Can anyone share their experience with the oil pan they chose? I am leaning toward a modified f-body pan. Any issues with this route?

After more research, I am now leaning toward autocraft oil pan and s&p mounts. I am planning on not running headers. This part is confusing to me, wish there was more of clearcut answer.

Maybe someone can help me a brad on this question.
We are using a 01/02 camaro intake and harness for this conversion. Now do we need to swap the valley cover and knock sensors or will the newer style knock sensor plug into the older harness? If we change the valley cover then I believe we will then have to change the rocker cover then too? We are just trying to get up to speed on this part of the project. It may be a simple as the knock sensor harness will hook to these sensors and plug right into the main harness?
Thx for any help.

The Autocraft pan is a good choice. If you looking at Cast pans, the MAST and Holley are also good choices.
Try and stay with the same manufactor on pans, mounts and header, Mixing and match can sometime lead to more work and additional cost. Check the project threads to see what other are using for pan/mount combo's. But with the newer pans, almost any mount will work now.
keep up the questions and pictures.. ( i get bored here at work during lighter days)

The F-Body 01-02 had the LS6 block and intake, but still had the older PCV system, might be a Vette LS6 engine or maybe a CTS-V ? They are the same blocks. Not sure, but is nothing to worry about.
yes, the Knock Sensor should be the same for the Gen III engine. There is a few threads about doing the conversion (also on LS1HowTo) to the LS6 PCV on older blocks. It is a better PCV system and can be just bolted on to the 01'+ blocks, 00' and older needs to do some cutting and grinding on the block.

Hey brad I also read today that some people are using a freeze plug to block the EGR port on the top of the intake. So we should just get a good measurement and buy a $3 freeze plug and call it done.
Also seem like we just buy a knock sensor harness for this motor and it should plug into the current harness. That is if I am understanding what others have posted.
