View Full Version : White TA, black or chrome rims???
04-13-2012, 02:57 AM
(On my white TA)
I've been having a debate on whether or not I should get Black rims with a chrome lip or just all chrome rims...
I'm looking at the American Torque Thrust rims,, I like the look of both and those suckers are expensive so I'd like to make sure I get a good choice haha.
Opinions please :)
I'm looking to also get black fender slash marks with all the black stickers. (Bird in front, Trans Am rocker panel, Pontiac lettering, etc.).

Go Chrome, black wheels look like dog crap on any car.

Any pics of the car? If u have enough black accents then I say black but if not, chrome or polished.

Chrome without a doubt. Do the black overlays like you were saying, as well as the CETA mod and it will look clean. Chrome wheels look soo much nicer on light colored cars, i.e. pewter, white. Black wheels are played out IMO:engarde:

do chrome , buddy of mine just got rid of the c6 black rims for some speedlines and it looks better with polished or chrome.

SORRY totally forgot to say I also did the CETA mod!
I know, I've just seen a couple members with both black & chrome..
I'm leaning a little more towards chrome now tho. But any other ideas or suggestions? :)

My opinion on the black wheel debate is that you have to go gloss if you go black. I think that flat black wheels on a white car will just look unfinished...but gloss can look really good. Also, do not do a machined/polished lip, unless it has a lot of width. Generally speaking, I think that chrome/polished is the way to go on white.

I think balck looks good if you have black accents, such as overlays and/or Blackbird stripes.
But chrome looks REALLY good on a white car IMO, so if you're going for the clean look, I'd go chrome/polished.
And just IMO, but fender hash marks are stupid and make no sense on Birds. They were originally a Corvette Gran Sport thing (60's race cars), so they have zero reason to be on a Trans Am.

Black has a mean look in my opinion but only glossed, flat black is cheap looking
04-16-2012, 08:42 AM
Yeah definitely not a flat black, it would either have to be glossed black or chrome/polished.
I really like the look of those polished ones too!

I vote chrome.

i would go polished, chrome has a cheap look, black imo gets old very fast, the only way i would do black if it was a very high end wheel with a cut down rear and a huge lip, whats your wheel budget , ccw, fikse are the best and are very pricey but can find used with decent tires for 2500 to 3 grand

I think black would look good, but like other people said gloss black with fat lips are the only good looking black wheels, I think if I had 8" wides with no lips I would hate mine. And accents are good to contrast the main color. If you don't have any other colors on the car besides that ceta I would go with chrome, or you could paint the sail panel and your mirrors black so the whole top of the car is black and you can have the wheels contrast with some black on the bottom.

You can buy chrome/polished wheels and plastidip them black. Once you get tired of that you can peel the plastidip off and have a new look. The best of both worlds, if you can't make up your mind.

Depends on the wheel. I've seen some white cars with black wheels and blacked out windows and they looked bad ass. I saw a white gt500 today with black super snake wheels and it looked awesome. Wish I had a pic to post.
