Default CC306 lifter problem?

my 95 z28 is in the shop for what i thought was a vaccum leak. The owner said that the cam barely turns and says i need new lifters ? i heard that most aftermarket lifters are the same as stock ones. Anyway i dont what the springs and such are since i bought the engine as a package. Should i buy new lifters?

I would be more concerned with what caused the lifter failure at this point. Were they already replaced with junk parts, were they installed wrong, foreign objects caught under the wheels etc. 17yo original stock lifters should have been fine with that cam.

I also would not have a car that modified if I couldn't work on it myself you are begging to be screwed taking a car like that to a repair shop..

The lifter could have failed due to dirty oil ect.... who knows but if 1 failed I would replace them all. Gm replacement ls7 lifters.

Everyone loves to push the LS7 lifters but if anything I have seen more complaints about them than the stockers.

If the lifters are indeed shot then the GM replacement is LS7s because they supersede the original PN. That said specific damage is about the only time stockers "need" to be replaced.

I really think you need to find out what went wrong, no sense buying lifters today only to find out the cam is shot too, or the engine is full of metal and has to get torn down anyway etc.

If you are in RI I would beg quik95lt1 to handle the rest of the diagnosis and repair.
