Default valve spring problems/questions

so my project for the last couple weeks has been porting a set of lt1 aluminum heads on my free time at school. i get free range of the swirl, tumble and flow bench so after getting one hogged out to my liking i went to flow it today and i got to about .475 lift and the retainer hit the valve seal.....

how are people getting the .525 lift lt4 hotcams to work?? machining the retainers? seats? different valve seals? or does the cam come with differnt seals or retainers or something?

i switched retainers just to see what it would pull at higher lifts and she was still increasing past .550 with velocities that made me smile!

also has anyone used the ebay valve springs from alex's parts supposed to work up to .600??

Um if the retainer is hitting the valve seal then you are compressing the springs to much. Need better springs.
