Default Timing chain issues

Hey is it normal to have slack with brand new ls2 chain? i have enough slack to make me concerned and im strongly considering returning the chain and buying the timing set. Or is the slack normal A friend of mine just installed a new cam sprocket and ls2 chain and his is tighter. Is has a little slack but one side stays tight always, where as mine is loose on both sides. Could my sprockets be worn??

A lot of slack is normal. I prefer to use new sprockets but they don't reduce the amount of initial slack, only the accumulation of additional slack over time.

Is it tighter, or is the cam gear just harder to turn?
