the question is what!? The only real thing I was thinking and may have convinced the wife was garage first, then the possibility of a ~50k car realistically after a 40-50k garage. Must be in that price range, so both used and new are an option. What would you buy!?? ALL MAKES AND MODELS WELCOME!! I'm thinking used CTS-V, used C63, or used 911.

I'm in the same boat. One kid comes out of daycare in September, so I'm looking into a new daily driver as well. A pre-owned CTS-V(2) might be in the cards, who knows.

If it was me i would look for a used c6z, but you cant go wrong with the ctsv, my buddy is making some crazy hp with bolt ons, tune, pulley,

Yeah. I've always debated a Z06, but with a child I can never decide to go 4 seater vs. 2 seater. Hence why I was looking at used sport luxury like the CTS-V and C63.

I got rid of my C6Z and got a CTS-V wagon. Soooo happy with the wagon!:burn: I don't miss the Z one bit.

That makes me feel better at looking into a 4 seater. :hail:

I love my V1 ctsv. But the lack of factory boost is slightly annoying. But cammed ls2 does sound nasty

def. a broad range of cars but i would LOVE a 911. maintenance would scare me on the 911 or the C63 though...tough decisions but a good problem to have haha

yeah. the big thing for our area is needing a place to store it, hence garage first then a NICE car. :)

After the Taj Mahal garage you wanna build I got the feeling that filling it is gonna come a bit later, haha. Plus don't you need somewhere to go before you buy a car? Priorities man :).

Just buy something with an LS motor and you will be ok. Although a 911 pretty much is in its own world and outclasses any gm offering, too much money for my blood though.

50k for me, I'd be slightly used CTS-v (2), or c6 GS.

In a few years we may be getting some Holden exports soon (just to get you thinking)

yeah I know Dan. The thing is that if I got the wife on the ropes now, a garage is a 100% do it now, then within the next year I can grab a used CTSV,911,or other 50k car. If I held out another 2-4yrs I could grab a 80-100k car. It all depends on how long I can hold off. After not having a decent car for the past 2 years it makes it hard to say "I'll just drive the Forester." LOL

How you are building a huge garage and buying a 50k car with no job blows my mind. I need your secret! ;)

No car to spend money on means more in savings!!! The proof is in the Forester, I just bought pads and rotors all around and just 1 rotor for the STi cost more than all the parts for the Forester! :jest:

Yes they do. I looked into both the GTO and G8's. They are just out of range with what I'd like for MPG. My commute is just tooo long!!

Then I wouldn't be looking at CTS-V's or 911's or Mercs.

Sounds to me like you want a sporty, but economical daily driver.
You know me I've been eyeballing the new turbo regal CXL for a while. Comfy, 6 speed, 32mpg hwy, decent price, and a 60hp tune away.

Exactly.. if you cant afford gas for a $20k car why are you looking for a $50k car? A G8 can get mid 20's on the highway which isnt bad even with well over 400hp. I dont think any of the others on the list do much better.

mine will get mid 20s in 6th at 60-65.

but yea those others listed are more expensive and probably get worse mileage.

That wins hands down. If, you're talking about buying something in 18 months, wait... by then you will be able to find a used 2013 GT500... and save probably 10 grand over what they get for them new.

That would be the way I would go without even thinking about it.

why did ford even come out the with the SHO... there is no comparison with GM 4 door cars lol do ctsv2- we are a Mercedes family and the higher the Mercedes the more problems it has, plus 1k to fix one headlight is a pain, then 3-400 for routine maintenance is fun too lol

(the SHO thing was brought up becuase i thought it was funny how noone recommended a ford... but its totally understandable why noone did lol)

OK so it's not that clear.....

I'll be doing the garage this year for sure. I have been also debating selling/trading my Forester for a new DD this year possibly. If I sell or trade I'm only looking at a 20k car to replace it. If I keep the Forester as my DD, I will then do the garage and hold off for a few year to buy something BAD ASS. The longer I wait, the higher in price I can look.

Hope that clears things up more!

Yeah I know the higher the price tag, the more it cost to maintain. That's always true. I always debate a sedan vs sports coupe. I never really drive alone unless it's to work or to auto-x. At this point I'm still debating. As it sits as of 5/24/12 @ 2:20 I am thinking keep the Forester and get a used 2 seater that handles like a 911 or Z06 for around 50k.....realistically buy in 1-2years.

I'm telling ya, give that 2013 GT500 a good 6 months of being out.. then start looking for a used one. Wait and see, people will buy and not be able to afford, and will trade in, or they'll end up not liking it, trading it in, etc. You'll be able to grab one with under 10 thousland miles on it for probably 10 grand less then sticker at LEAST.

Throw a set of 4.10 gears in one, tune it and just put a sticky tire on it and you'll have a badass street car for sure, that's still reliable and can be driven anywhere.

That's what I would do... someday if I ever finish the neverending race car project... I will probably look for one. By then they will be 10 years old and I'll be able to pick one up for a song :jest:

What do you want....a cheap car just for light to light for street action....auto-x car that can handle and off/on track days....something stock that is fast and does everything kinda well or something specialized?

Porsche 911 Turbo
Caddy CTS-V
Stock C6 Vette with a blower

MaSTi
05-24-2012, 05:02 PM
Honestly not sure. I do like auto-x and strip action.....never did track event. I'm into cars and racing, but what I buy will depend on what sport I'd run. I just want something fast overall and can handle around a 1.0g in the corners. I know track days can get VERY expensive, so I'd like to do auto-x and strip as my options. This will pretty much be a fair weather car with almost zero use as a DD.

subarubill96
05-24-2012, 05:14 PM
seriously... STi or 2.5l Wrx swap into the forester will make a bitching DD for under 10 grand then use the rest to buy a used 911, cts-v, whatever....

Joe "Preachers Sheets" DIESO
05-24-2012, 09:03 PM
Get yourself a Porsche 911 Turbo used or a new Corvette.

The Porsche will have enough stock for you, cut's sub 3 second 0-60 times in stock trim. The Vette is a Vette....it's cheap enough where if it isnt enough you'll have cash to bolt on a blower onto the bone stock car and you'll have the complete package.

JL ws-6
05-24-2012, 09:17 PM
As long as you don't ever need to do a tuneup on that porsche. You have to pull the motor to change the spark plugs on all of them, unless that's recently changed. Worst car to work on ever built.... look forward to some of the most expensive repairs and maintenance bills you will ever see.

After hanging out with Dannows6 a couple days ago, I am now considering selling my Forester for a GTO. The problem.....I e-mailed the dealership and they had JUST sold the GTO I wanted. :( So, alas I'm looking but can't seem to find the exact one I'm looking for.

I do remember some one posting about know where to get new ones with LOW to NO miles. Anyone know of who an how!!? I'd like an 06 with black/black and M6, with under 10k miles if possible.
