Default Bought a few new parts before the Shootout

After a bunch of debating about the car I pulled the trigger today on the Burkhart brake and spindle setup. I also ordered a strange lightweight spool with a set of 4.30 gears and for mostly appearance pulling the rear and having it narrowed 2in per side. I don't expect to be really much quicker with changes not adding any power, but they will all ad up in the final goal. I plan to run a single plane and another set of Brodix castings with either a fast or LS1 computer next year hopefully if the funds are in order.

This stuff is to just lighten the pig up a little and it doesn't hurt that it's mostly rotational mass.

I will try and get some progress pics when stuff arrives.

the spindles look really nice. how much is that rear end narrowing going to impact the spring/shock mounts, seems like 2"/side would be cutting it close.

Not bad 2in is pretty common but going more than that requires a little more work.

They are a little pricey with Aerospace brakes they are 1075.00
and with Strange brakes which is what I did 1200.00

Will do. I was told this entire setup is only 26lbs per side brakes, rotor, spindle and the stock spindle alone weights that.

I'm jealous Jeff!! Here I am trying to decide on what to do engine wise, and you're going even quicker. Although if you do switch heads let me know, I may have enough coin saved by then to put them to use!

Yes. 3rd gen spindle kit.
If you change the rear breaks go manual master and delete the wippers it right at 100 lbs.

I already did the Strange rears last year. I assume your running this setup on your car because you seem to know all about it. I can't cut to much weight this year have to make the 3,400 lb weight in but next year it won't matter if I step up to mod na I can do the manual master and delete the wippers maybe some percys speed glass.

yes we run the racecraft 2" 3rd gen setup with strange breaks. right know i hit the scales at 3530 +/-10lbs. were hoping to have enough funds to shed some more weight and get down to the 3300lb min before the shootout.

also when you get the master cyl. get the small bore one(1.032"). we got the 1 1/8" one that strange recommends. you cant get the pedal ratio much higher than 5.5/1 with out major modifications. the pedal is fairly stiff.

Thanks good to know. I ended up going with the stock height instead of doing any drop because I plan on keeping it NA for now and would love to dip in to the 1.3's sixties on motor with this heavy pig.

Good move going stock ride height. The cars that go with the 2" drop are 7/8-second cars that are trying really hard to keep the front end down. My friend had a set of 2" drop on his LS1 car and he had to crank of the QA1 to get back to proper ride height. By doing so he lost a ton of shock extension and it hurt his 60-foots.

Thanks Joel, I really had 2 goals with the car. 1. was to runs some 10's on motor which I have. 2. was to get the car to sixty foot in the 1.3's. I'm close to that goal now and hoping these changes will get me there. I loosened the converter before the shootout last year but the track was slick and never got even a 1.5.

Don't feel bad. Best 60ft I had at the shootout was a 1.38 every other pass was in the 1.4's.

What kind of lead time do they have on the whole setup?

They are pretty stout. I would not worry about street driving.
