01 formula a4 car installing a 225/229 581-591 114 lsa cam all new valve train oil pump timing chain reusing ls6 intake and all bolt ons

The car currently has 241 heads on it I'm debating on sending the heads to ai have them do the full refurb for $500 and have them install my springs or for
what I figure for a low mileage pair of 243's shipped will be about the same what is my better route I no there will be a compression jump with the 243 but I can have ai match that with decking

The cars my daily driver that makes prolly 40 1/8th mile passes a year so I am looking
for a performance increase

No, I've ran 241s milled .025 and stock 799s and there was no difference in SOTP, maybe even lean toward the 241s feeling a tad stronger. Don't always believe all the internet hype.

A better valve job where AI make a lot of his magic happen. If you looked into them a little you would notice that there cnc ported heads are not the most flowing heads compared to other companies but his numbers that cars make with them don't slouch on the dyno or the strip. cheers!

I think more value would be in you getting the AI heads as you already have the 241s. 241s used are only worth their weight in aluminum so you would be stuck with them. The only thing that scares me about AI or really anyone rebuilding heads are the hidden cost. You may need new guides or some other repairs or re-conditioning which you were not expecting. Than PRC heads start looking like a cheaper route.

I vote rebuilt 241s

If you take the effort to send the heads to AI, why not spend a little more and have them CNC them for you - definate power to be gained here.

Yeah if your going to go all out with them go for it,but its hard to beat the price of the prc heads, honest if your going to do it, do it right

Look at the 241/ 219 cc program they have. You could get 11:1 compression on those.

Texas Speed will save you some cash with the PRC heads ready to go.

Go AI if you are dying for every last HP and have the budget to pay for it.

I would not dump $500 into 241s or install bone stock 243s.

Why are you thinking of pulling the heads? Is there something wrong with them? If not either leave them alone or get ported heads. Also when you figure costs for the heads don't forget head bolts, gaskets, and etc.

Honestly if the heads do not need to come off right now then you should just save until you can afford a nice set of heads. I bought some ls6 heads planning on running them as is, then decided to send them out to AI. I couldnt be happier, sure I waited a little longer and spent a bit more but it was totally worth it.

No I have not had my car on the dyno, and heads were not on a flow bench, but I can tell you I'm just an average guy with a 90 grinder and porting kit and the work I did on my 241's made a HUGE difference on the "butt" dyno.....241's with the tight work can hold their own against ported 243's
