Default 1000 whp stock crank?

Alright, so who on here has made 1000 whp with a stock crank build and more importantly, who has tried and failed? Let's hear the horror stories.

What trans?
What failed and how?
What would you do different?

LS1 and I know it can and has been done many times. I wanted to see if I was just hearing the success stories and none of the horrors.

One of my friends (BAKED on here) pushed 963rwhp (which is well over 1,000 crank) on a stock LS2 shortblock for a little while...made several street runs, dyno tuning, and a few track runs before egg-shaping 2 or 3 rod bearings and spinning a main bearing...stock crank wasn't hurt but probably needs turned just to be safe...

This was a turbo car...powerglide, 3.55 gear, etc.

I would say next time, or as of now actually, the car has better rod bolts, main studs, and forged internals, but still has a stock LS1 crank now as he is using his backup motor...which is a 347ci LS1. Car is still pushing right around 900 at the wheels.

What are opinions on pinning the mains and/or o-ring the heads/block for 1000-1200 whp through a 400? Is it needed or not?

Honestly IMO if you have the money to be making that kind of power, I would just go with another crank anyway. But as stated above may times, the stock cranks are supposed to be good to that power level. I'd just be scared to push it..
