DIY Windshield Replacement
I’d like to hear from anyone who has replaced the windshield of an F-Body. The instructions in the Service Manual are straightforward. I’d like to do it myself but I wonder if there might be unexpected pitfalls. Is OEM-quality glass and molding available? I have a helper. Any advice wil be apreciated.

I would not attempt to do it my self and I have done windshield replacements before. If you do it yourself you will more then likely end up with a leak somewhere. Just pay the 125 dollars to have it put in by a pro. Then you also have a warrenty with that as well. good luck

I did auto glass for years and was Ford certified. Camaro glass is one of the hardest cars to do and reaplcing any windshield requires specialized tools and Urethane. Do not do it yourself, there is no way you could do it properly and i doubt it would save you much $ either.

I did it on my beater El Camino myself but the
Camaro has over twice the glass area and I
bet you care more about the outcome. I vote
to let the glass shop do it, too... it's one of
those jobs where you touch it, and it's stuck,
and there's no do-over.

In 99 I had mine replaced in my 95 Z28 and they had to send two guys out to replace it because the size of the window. Two people lessen the likelyhood of it being dropped on the hood. Very heavy piece of glass!
Mine looked like it was sandblasted from road debris when I lived in Florida. I called State Farm and they paid for the whole thing! That was nice!
