Trading into a Mongoose 63 GrandSport!
Well seeing that I don't tow much with my duramax and that I have a 98 Chev 1500 4x4 anyway, I've been looking for something to replace my Boyd Coddington 2500HD and finally found it...
Mongoose Motorsports 1963 Corvette Grand Sport
I have been following these cars for a number of years, and finally came across the right deal on one. If everything goes well, I will be finalizing the deal on Saturday with the current owner and having the car transported home Sunday or Monday.
Current setup:
502ci/502hp crate engine - 300 miles on motor. Holley 950cfm "double pumper"
March billet pulleys, March power steering pump & res, Serpentine belt.
Richmond T10 4 speed manual.
C4 suspension, adjustable coil overs.
Dana 44 rear, 96 Corvette master, booster, & calipers.
2 piece forged 17" rims, 275 fronts, 335 rears.
Custom equal length headers, collectors as visible on side pipes, spiral mufflers = LOUD
Griffin radiator, aluminum overflow canister.
Electric fans.
Vintage heat & AC - no stereo.
Fire extinguisher, 5 point harnesses, full autometer gauges, + more. 2300 miles on car - has been vintage raced in Calgary, possibly delivered with racing slicks for road course.

Finalized the deal yesterday afternoon. Having a trucking company deliver it the 350 miles to my house sometime early this week I hope.
Going to do a little TLC to the car, fix the volt meter and fuel gauges, find some nice pedals for the clutch and brake pedal, then just enjoy it for the summer

Here are some from the builder's website:

He has done a bunch of different cars, Cobras, classics, etc. Very nice guy, loves his vintage road racing!
Engine is a crate ZZ502 for now. One day hope to do a wild LSx build (maybe C5R block) with a Kinsler ITB setup, and TR6060. Something with at least 700hp NA. I figure that in a 2600lb car should be more than enough (like that ever happens!!).

For those wondering about the paint scheme, it is exactly how Chassis #003 appeared (I realize the number on the car is 2 ) for the 12 hours of Sebring in 1964. All the decals/sponsors are accurate as well. It was at this race that a mechanical failure cost the team their position on the starting grid forcing them to the back of the pack. A.J. Foyt piloted the car and passed an un-matched 51 cars in the first lap! Just thought I would share a little history
