Default removing lt headers of a94 firebird lt1

]How hard is it to do this? Im considering dropping them when i do my plugs, wires, and opti. When i changed my plug in cylinder #6 it took all day to get the plug and wire off. There wasnt enough room between the headers and the plug to get a socket on it and the last person to do the plugs overtorqued them.

headers or manifolds?

If headers, Its easier then manifolds. But normally you dont have any issues with headers. Manifolds its a bit harder.

Remove the starter, thats easier then both. This isnt a hard plug to do if I remember correctly, you just need to get creative and approach it differently, LT1's dont always use common tools, like spark plug sockets. Find a diff socket, normally a shorter one. I think you can even see this plug from the bottom straight shot. Ill admit I havent been under my hood in awhile, but I did do 3 plug removal/installs in half a year though once, I dont remember this one being any issue. I do remember laying on my engine to get #2 though when I had stock manifolds.

If your trying to remove manifolds your wasting time/effort.

geeze what headers are you using, i can get all 8 of mine from up top with pacesetters, but dropping the headers shouldn't be to bad if you unbolt the exhaust system from them and unbolt from the heads with car jacked up they should just slide right down

I had to cut a spark plug socket in half and drill out the square hole so it would slip over the spark plug and used a wrench to get #6 out with my Longtubes. The plug was just too close to the primaries to get a normal socket in there.

If you've got shortys, try removing the Y pipe and getting #6 plug from the bottom. That's the way I have to do #6 with my SLP mid length headers. It's a PITA but no way can I get 6 from the top.
