Default In middle of race car gave up...please read...

I was out racing one of my friends last night. The first time we raced everything was fine and went as expected, then the next time we lined up from first gear and everything was fine till I shifted into third. As soon as I did the car fell on its face and was vibrating badly, hardly running. After I got it back home I ataped it and tried to start it, and it will crack without firing untill I give it some gas then it will fire but run very badly(with me giving it gas). There arent any noises, or clanks , or anything to make it seem like it is internal. The only code that it was giving was map sensor high voltage, so I switched it out with my friends and it still run exactly the same. I am going to pull the intake and valve covers and give it a compression test to see if I can find anything. Do any of you have any reccommendations of what I can do to help find the problem? The guy I was racing said there was all kind of flames comming out of the exhaust, also.

check the wires running by the starter. that sounds alot like a burned wire causing all kinds or erratic errors in the computer <img border="0" title="" alt="[Frown]" src="gr_sad.gif" />

I was running up at TexasmotorPlex in Ennis last summer in the SLP race day event when my car did something similar..it started running like crap and cost me the chance to win that event. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Mad]" src="gr_images/icons/mad.gif" /> It was banging and poping so bad Ithought my transmission was falling apart. I loaded it on the trailer and went home.I was two races from final <img border="0" title="" alt="[Frown]" src="gr_sad.gif" /> .Took Car to MTI who does all MODS on it and found out I had three bad MSD wires. Sparks were arking on header bolt. Changed to the new ThunderBolts by Taylor been kicking but ever since. <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="gr_images/icons/cool.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="gr_images/icons/cool.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[driving]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_driving3.gif" />

I got a niod and a digital multi meter to check the injector wires. It turns out that the third injector wire back on both sides of the motor have no output whatsoever. So my guess is the computer went bad. Any other suggestions?

Broken Valve Spring would be my guess, if you changed them. <img border="0" alt="[bang head]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_banghead.gif" />
