Street Racing & Kill Stories - 1999 Camaro vs GT500

Vortech G-Trim on 5psi
38# injectors
Dyno tuned at RMCR
Rest of the car is stock
Made 393 rwhp and 387 rwqt

2007-2009 GT500
Unknown mods
Red with white stripes
Look/Sounded stock

I'm really pissed that I didn't get a video of this race so a story will have to do. Friday night I was at a local cruz spot and spotted a GT500 in the parking lot. So I waited around until he left and I followed him out. Both of us had passengers. I'm in the left lane and as soon as I get even to his car he drops a gear and takes off :engarde: it was on!

Race one:
After I catch back up to him I drop the car in third and as soon as I do he hits it, so I hit it and stop his pull. At this point my front bumper was at his door and slowly gaining. He lets out of it before I hit the top of third gear around 5500rpm.

Race two:
After we catch back up again I tried honking this one off. I honked once and he takes off again. Same thing as the first race with him pulling me about half a car.

We took off around 50-55mph I think. After the last raced he slowed down and gave me a thumbs up :drive: cool dude. Wish the races would have lasted longer but I was suprised by the outcome. I thought he was going to walk me pretty good.

Sure it wasn't a Shelby gt instead of a gt500? Had a similar encounter when cruising in my 5.0, came account across a 07ish stang with the snake emblem and after running him found out it was just the Shelby gt with only a small power bump up from base gt.

I'm 100% sure it was a GT500. I looked it over in the parking lot. I had my windows down and I could hear the blower wine as well.

Thanks man! After researching the cars I found out they weigh around 3900+ lbs and make about 420-430 rwhp stock.

Why are you hauling around that blower for only 5psi?

My Vortech kit is non-intercooled. I have a smaller pulley waiting to go on I just need to install my meth kit and get it retuned.

yea the older generation didnt put out that much. kinda depressing for the power they could have made. at least they got their act together with the 2013 gt500.
