Default cam question

So i have always had plans to do a heads/cam/intake upgrade on my car. Unfortunately the budget doesnt allow that right now. So i was thinking about doing a cam now and then doing all 3 later.
The car has been modified per my sig and while it is not a true daily driver i do put about 10k miles on it every year. Plus 1-2 drag trips and a few autox and road course events.

So what cams should i look into? I'm guessing i should replace the timing set too. But i do not want to get into valve springs or rockers right now.
How much of a power gain should i expect and at what cost?

Thanks
Tony

You will have to buy springs regardless of which cam you choose...it's normal practice to replace timing chain, oil pump while you are in there, if you aren't removing heads you will only need front timing gasket set...

I would go with a proven can like 224r,228r or something like that...Blm.

If you really want to put a performance cam in it, then you really need to upgrade the valve springs at the same time!

Cam and spring package usually right around 5-600 with gaskets...dePending on cam you should gain 20-40 rwhp

don't do after market rockers unless you are doing certain heads with bronze guides.maybe do some trunnion bearing upgrades.you can do a mail order tune by frost to save some money.the cam should be the last part you by when doing a engine.look at Texas Speed for some ideas on cost of what you want.how much hp do you want to make ?

Our cam packages come with the cam(of course) pushrods, and valve springs to match the cam used.

I can either do you a custom cam to fit your exact needs or grab one off the shelf from comp.

Either way I can take care of you so if you'd like call the shop M-F 8-5 and ask for Martin!
