Default How to remove ac expansion valve 96 Firebird

Im replacing all the parts and got the new ex valve. All I see is the 2 lines from the ac going into it but no other screws that would release it from the spot it sits on the firewall. The new one is the same with no mounting holes so does it just pull out after removing the AC lines?

thanks.....

Remove the two lines going in and out of the Expansion valve and you will see two screws (hex head - can't remember size) in the middle on either side. Unscrew those - becareful not to strip them and they can be pretty tight. See this diagram for reference:

...after you open the system, you should replace the drier and use a vacumm pump to remove all moister before recharging it with freon...

do this or suffer bad results...

Yup replaced the drier also. Thanks for the tips. Im an idiot LOL The 2 screws are right there in my face. I think what threw me off is that the new valve had a silver tape over the holes on each side making it look like a solid block. After examining the new one better it all made sense.

Thanks for the help guys

Scott
