Accelerating with AC on
I noticed my car is A LOT slower with the AC on and bogs/needs more throttle to get her going from a dig. I know AC is parasitic but it feels like I lose 50 HP with it turned on...ur thoughts?
50 HP loss........by feel......is A LOT........something else must be wrong. Maybe the compressor is about to go and its getting hard to turn.
.
I dont really do spirited driving when the A/C is on but I have easily went 100+ with the A/C on , on the highway and didnt feel a power loss , like I said , just needs a bit more of a throttle when going from a dig..

I think that what you're talking about is normal. 50HP? I wouldn't be surprised if that was the case because it definitely uses a lot!
I also don't think that the compressor clutch can disengage fast enough after you accelerate to 90 %. Think about how long it takes for it to disengage after you turn off your AC (you can hear it)
Long story short... I think that what you're experiencing is normal. Every single time I plan on accelerating more than like 3500 rpms I'll turn off my AC. It robs power for sure, and I also heard that it's bad for the compressor to run that fast.
