Default 1/4 Trap Speeds

Last year my average mph was 106 in the 1/4. I saw several cars ( and a truck ) trap the same speed and run high 12's. That leads me to believe I can also break into the 12's. Is it just a simple matter of traction or am I missing something. BTW my best 60' was a 2.1.

T-maxx,it is all about the 1st 60ft,but your shifting ability has a little something to do with it too(M6).
I just got back from the track today and ran 12.5 @ 108 but my 60 ft was 1.7. Drop your 2.1 down and you should be in the 12's with 106 mph.
I was hoping for 12.1's but i could not find any traction with Nitto
dr's. Next trip is going to be on E/T streets.
Practice, practice practice.... You will get there. Good luck.

remember also that you may have seen 106 mph automatics doing this....i only trap 110-111 and i run about half a second faster than my friends M6 that traps the same exact speeds. when comparing M6s to A4s, the M6 will usually trap HIGHER (3-4 mph on stock cars) and run the same ETs as the A4s...meaning that you're 106 would probably be with a slightly slower ET than an A4 that traps 106.

like redss said, the 60 foot is EVERYTHING....for the most part every tenth you knock off the 60 foot will give u between 1.5 and 2 tenths off the total 1/4 mile ET. TRACTION TRACTION TRACTION! (also your trap speed tends to go up when you spin to a bad 60 foot...i can almost guarantee that you would run a SLIGHTLY slower trap speed with a good hard-hooking launch (naturally you'd still get a better ET because of the initial launch.)

BTW: what is your ET to go with that 2.1 60' and 106 trap?

13.4 . I didn't hit the rev lim. when shifting so maybe I have a couple hundred rpm left in her. I know that the stock tach is lazy. I also lift when shifting. Trying to be nice to your car at the track is kinda but it's a long walk home.

get down to a 1.8 60 foot and you'll probably hit 12s from there....

invest in some drag radials and LCAs. with some practice, that shoudl get you there....you can also try pullin out the front swaybar...i picked up a solid half a tenth in the 60 foot from that.

yep, you need traction. The best 60' I can get is 2.1 and I go 13.005 at 107.35 If I had traction I would be in the 12's. That was also with a 20mph wind in my face

LCA's, front sway bar, and ET Streets....12.5's all day long. Probably pick up a few MPH as your not spinning when u shift down the track.

I'm in the same boat...

The best 60' I've gotten is 2.198.. and on that run I got a 13.2@108...

If I can cut that to about a 1.8 or so.. well into the 12's... Nittos will be on the way once the heads are paid for..

Like the other guys have already said, practice on your launch and invest in some sticky tires (BFG's if you're going to use them for strip only). It would also be wise to invest in a shift light, this makes it so much easier as you can concentrate on shifting/clutch rather than staring at the tach. Practice your launch on back road until you get minimal wheel spin and try to do it the same at the strip. This will help your 60' times a lot and give you better ET's. Also, practice your shifting so you don't "waste" too much time in between shifts, this will also make the difference between running a 12.x or a 13.x. Most importantly, have fun!

just get some ET's on cheap 16's for track, nitto's don't seem to hot at the track once you had the taste of ET streets
