Default Opinions on a budget 370 lq9 build...

Have the chance to pick up a complete lq9 for cheap but only downfall is it needs to be bored.

Just wondering how cheap i could come out with some .030 over pistons and stock rods/crank with arp bolts?

Car will be cam only with a decent size bump stick.

Was looking at weisco pistons not a bad price but idk.

I didnt know if they made decent hyper pistons .030 over but i figure if its not much more might as well get forged and be set for spray also considering scat rods since theyre not much more than resizing rod bolts.

I used speed pro .030 pistons with stock rods and arp bolts, it was $350 for pistons and rings and another 100 for bolts. My machine shop checked said mine did not require a resize.

I wouldnt mind using those as long as i could keep a decent compression and flycut for a bigger cam.

Im assuming these are the ones..

those are the ones. The machine shop said they are good pistons, but also said they were not a balanced set. No problem though, he balanced it all up fine.

I used wiseco pistons for my 370. Forget the exact part number but they are very nice.

I paid 670 for the pistons and bearings from hke, used the stock crank and got scat rods to avoid re conditioning the stock ones.

Stock ls3 top end with an EPS cam. Shooting for 500 at the tires. All in all, I don't have much in The engine itself, it's the clutch and other odds and ends that still has it on jack stands.

Yea , those are a nice piece, they are LQ9 replacements Summits description is not correct on these .They are not pressed fit pin , they are floating pin.I have made them aware of this twice and they still have not corrected it. $41 dollars for flat tops is a good price. But if you don't need the CR bump check these out only $ 25.69 each http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SLP-H857CP75MM/ and are floating pin also , but would verify with Federal Mogul before buying to be safe.

These are .030 over http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SLP-H1129CT75MM/

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SLP-H857CP75MM Both of these are .030 over . Standard bore is $ 9 dollars more. Money wise even if your block will go Standard its pretty much a toss up .The cost of boring will be offset by the lower cost of the pistons. DSS makes a flat top forged for $400 a set .

Reg Price: $487.74
Our Price: $399.95

Dont know what heads your planning on running , but if its truly a budget , you could run your 317s with these DSS pistons and be at close to 11:1 with no milling.

i think im actually gonna run stock ls3 heads and a custom grind cam now I dont plan on any spray really but if i ever do itll be a 150 shot at most.

The block needs to be bored btw dont think i ever clarified that.

So with ls3 heads and intake what would my cr be with these pistons?

I believe these are the right ones correct me if im wrong.

part # 1920SX-030

thanks again guys.

Those are the wrong pistons if you plan on keeping the stock crank. Those pistons are for a 4.00" stroke crank and the stock crank is only 3.622".

Another option is to bore the block to 4.065" and use stock LS3 pistons. That's what I did.

Id rather not bore it that far.

I think im gonna wind up getting either some diamond or wiesco with pre cut vr and scat rods with arp's.

I was like you guys wanting a budget well once all the little things started building up, I had around 7k in my motor, Then a friend offered me a price I couldnt refuse for the car, and that keft me with a motor. See the link below for all the details, professionally built and fully forged.
