Default The little 5.3 that could.

well after much problem solving, alot of trouble shooting ect, finally got it on the rollers and got to lay down some numbers. it surrpassed what i expected it to make, so im happy, but as always there wil be changes in the near future. little bit of a run down, the setup is simple, cheap, and effective.

stock 5.3 block with stock bore
off the shelf wiseco flatop pistons
cheap eagle rods
stock crank
stock untouched 862s with .002 taken off for flatness
untouched vic jr
rossler th400
moser 9"
my turbo kit
gt4788
ebay intercooler
4" piping
twin bovs

stock appearing in almost every way from the outside.

dvd/nav

took 7 ppl to get it to hook on the rollers.

That is nice! Yeah these little 5.3's can make some serious power. If you have part#s you mind pm'ing the part numbers for pistons and rods?

My 5.3 completely exceeded my expectation. Last year my $8,000 498 went 6.31 @ 108mph and thought that was fast in my nearly 4,000lb chevelle. When it blew up 7 months later, I built my first turbo set up with a stock $500 5.3 and with 20lbs of boost it went low 6's at 118mph! It lasted 7 months also but got 15,000 street miles and over 20mpg's. Once I get the tune right I will put some good pistons and rods in it like you.

rods are the arp 2000 ones, eagle only has two hbeams for ls1s that are 6.125" i believe. and the only difference is the rod bolts. arp02000 or the cheaper version. these were like 480$

the pistons are the 2618 forgings from wiseco, theyre 3.898 bore i believe, flat tops w 4cc reliefs, theyre about the same price as the rods

Looks like around 25psi, nice! What fuel? Curious when you see full boost as well? I'm guessing around 4500-5k?

Fuel is 100LL

It spools surprisingly fast for what it is, wastegate opens up somewhere around 4100-4200rpm still makes power clear to 7200 tho. The ultimate goal is to swap this 5.3 out for a 427/454 in the future and max this 88mm out

If it is in fact a 3.898" bore that is a 5.7L not a 5.3L. 3.898" bore and a stock 3.622" crank equals 345.79 cubic inches.

It's not, I dunno why I put thT, lol it's stock bore 5.3, all it got was a hone, and there were still black spots in like 6/8 of the cylinders.
