Default Wheel Sizes, Backspaces, and Tire Sizes - Lets get this stickied

I'm shocked that nobody has made a chart that lays out this kind of info for F bodies, assuming all other components (brakes, rear end width, suspension, etc) are stock. Kind of like a Wheels and Tire buying guide for dummies.

I'm doing wheel and tire shopping, all I want to see is a chart of what sizes work with our cars and what wheel / tire combos will work. I've really only been shopping for a drag setup so please feel free to add in any wheel or tire size that will work in front or back.

Here are some standard sizes I'm seeing, but would love to see a fully fleshed out chart over time with the help of you guys, and maybe we can get this stickied.

If you see something that doesn't work, please feel free to ask for a correction. Subscribing to this thread to keep it updated!

Not sure if height really matters here, however, there are situations like where a 15" RTS should fit over stock calipers, but a 15" Pro Star won't.

Wheel height, wheel width, backspace

FRONT:
15, 4, 1.5
15, 5, 2.5
15, 6, 3.5
15, 7, 4.5

REAR:
15, 8, 5.5
15, 9, 6.5
15, 10, 7.5

Tire width, typical min wheel width, typical max wheel width
205 - 5.5, 7.5
215
225 - 6, 8
235
245
255 - 7, 9
265
275 - 7.5, 9.5
285
295 - 8, 10
305
315 - 8.5, 11
325 - 9, 12

Tire height is up to you! Think about your rear end gear ratio, desired trap RPM, desired highway cruising speeds / RPM, etc.

Do you want your car and stance to look a certain way? Tire height is a big factor here.

Here is an awesome calculator to help you figure out your RPMs at certain speeds depending on gear ratio and tire size.

(Use the very bottom calculator)

Uhm . . . can't you see?

Too many variables with a "race" application wheel tire combo . . .

That one is extremely incomplete, out of date, and uses an offset in 'mm' instead of a backspace in inches.

it is still relevant and has suited the forum well the past 9 years. But if you want to recreate the wheel.............

Using inches and backspacing is "out of date" . . .

Uh that's because offset in mm is different than backspace...

I just had some 275/30s put on 19x8.5 wheels - three shops told me no and the fourth got them on with a lot of effort. I'd pay to see those tires on a 7.5" wheel. NOT going to happen
