Racetronix Hot Wire - Best way to feed wire to fuel pump w/ trap door
I already tried the search. I am getting ready to install the wiring and just wondered what the best way to is. Would working a string or wire down over the tank from the top be be okay and then attach and gently pull up the wires. I'm not sure what kind of obstacles are above the tank. Do most have to drop the tank slightly?

I'm looking to purchase the racetronix kit shortly and was interested to know how easy the install really is? I'll probably drop my tank, but other than the problems you have come across how was it?

i got the casper electronics hotwire kit sitting in the box in my garage.thats what i was gonna do cause as long as you can just feed the wires through the top of the tank and drop em down to the frame, the rest should be easy.that seems to be the hardest part.if worst comes to worst, just remove one of the tank straps and the tank should drop a few inches.thats all you really need.

just undo the bolts facing the front of the car and it will drop down far enuf you can slip the wires up to the top of the tank. I just did this about a month ago and only take about 30 mins to get it all set up. I just taped it to a hanger and guided it to the top of the tank.

One last question. Does it mater if it comes off to the driver's side like the factory (there's a bunch of obstacles) or can I go straight over the front. Thanks

I did the swap last weekend but i dropped my tank all the way.
but if you are cutting the trap door Im thinking you can just loosen the strap bolts and when the tank comes down it will give you enough room to fish the end of the harness up and over the tank to the connections where they need to be. with a hanger ofcourse.
its a tight fit unless that tank comes down some.
then after that just follow your fuel line with your harness line, zip tie it and attach it to the alternator.
here is my harness at the tank end.
and here it is at the alternator end:

I loosened the straps a little bit, fished some twisted-up up from the bottom (had my buddy waiting up top). When he had a good hold on his end, I wrapped the tank side of the hotwire harness in the duct tape and he pulled it up while I guided it (all on the driver's side, close to the fuel lines). Easy as hell. Takes 20 minutes once hole is cut and the pump's changed out.

yeah you can loosen the straps without taking anything off, just let the rear hang down so atleast you can get an extension up in there to the bolt.
hmmm? i just looked at some pictures i had....you might not be able to get to the bolts with out removing the heat shields...i dunno....ur gonna have to get up under there and look for ur self. sorry, i tried to help.

I tried the coat hanger trick but the connectors on the end of the harness were just to big. I loosened the front bolts on both straps and it dropped down about 6 inches and gives you plenty of room to work. I already had heat shielding removed so you might have to remove that also. I think its like 10 7mm bolts on that rear heat shield. Good Luck.
