Stall converter...How high should I go?
How high should we stall this old girl and what gains can we expect in the 1/4? I am considering sending our converter back to Edge to get re-stalled since 3.90 gears are going in anyway. It is somewhere between a 3,200 and 3,600 right now. I just can't remember exactly and haven't paid much attention at the track because it's so hard to take my eyes off the pavement ahead. Car has only been to track twice with current set up and has a best of 1.74 60 ft. on m/t et streets. Would like lots of input on this one. Please give examples of changes you've experienced going with a bigger stall. It's a dd but not too concerned about drive-ability with the 3.90, a good tuner, and Andre's ability to make converters that drive great yet still perform. I'm shooting for 10's in good air and traction. Can a stall get me there?

No one has responded, so let me take a shot...
If you are getting good traction at the start, you could probably stall as high as the peak torque for your cam.
On the other hand, if you are currently spinning on the start with your 3600 stall, you would not want to go higher.
Personally, I got better 60ft times with a 2500 stall because I was spinning with a 3600 stall on drag radials.
I'm an amateur on this topic, so maybe better advice will follow.

Pro kill. The 60ftcan definately be a lot better. I would want to look at the whole combo before telling you where to go. Also are you worried about driveability or more performance.

I want driveability and performance Understood though. With the stall that's in it now I can hardly tell it's there with normal driving. It seems like much less slippage now that it's broke in.

Well driveability is defined by the customer. I have customers that like 3600's and some that like 4000.

I have a custom built unit by Greg that's ~3600. He made it pretty tight for my 2.73 gears which I like, I may get it restalled in the future to a 3800 or 4000 when I'm ready for a H/C build.
Question for Greg - Is the one free restall only within the first year or is it lifetime?

With my old bolt on setup I had an Art Carr 2800 stall it pulled consistant 1.6-1.7's and went 12.20's. I then switched to a YANK 4000ss and dropped the 60's to 1.5's and the 1/4 time to 11.90's
