Really need help here.. 1 of 2 car rarity?
I have a 2000 blk on blk on blk Z/28 Convertible that when you run a numbers check on it, it comes back as a 1 of 2 ever made. Now it may or not be rare, but I wanted a cheap car to throw some nitrous at and be in the 11's. Not a hard thing to do with an LS1 F-body, but I have my reservations of doing this to THIS f-body. I need some thoughts and opinions. It has pretty high miles and is not a perfect car. It is however very nice. If it is as rare as some people think it is, that would outweigh the "nice" factor in worth. I don't want to screw with a possible piece of history, but I want to build my LS1 dammit!!! If it is rare, I would want to trade it for something equally nice that I CAN build.
I can supply a VIN or whatever. Or if anyone has a way of telling me based on options if it is, in fact a rarity, or if it is just another 'camaro in need of performance parts. HEEEEEEELLLLP ME lol

The car that OP has isn't an SS so it won't be in SLP's registry. A 1 of 2 car is nice but in all reality it won't mean a hill of beans. Unless its 20yrs from now, in mint condition, and low low miles. All of which its not. OP have fun with it modding wise and be safe with all your new found power.

I had a 1 of 24 19k mile stock firehawk and look at me now..happy as can be. Plus you cant explain to a honda owner that your car is rare when they go through civics like paper plates. He will just say your slow and flyby, dont let that be you!

That "1 of 2" figure is misleading, it's taking into account options that are too minor to actually add any value to the car based on "rarity". A black LS1 Z28 convertible with high miles and average condition will never be seen as rare or valuable. Do with the car whatever makes you happy, you are not sitting on any type of investment nor gold mine; it's just a fun and cool car that you should enjoy however you see fit.

The "1 of 2" thing that you find when you run your VIN through various sites is indeed very misleading. It only means that there are 2 cars with exactly the same build and options.
Things like the CD changer, number of speakers, interior color, tire options, traction control, power seats, etc. There are a lot of various combinations and one little thing makes your car almost unique.
Except that there are probably more like 2000-3000 other year 2000 black on black convertable Z/28s that are almost just like yours except for a few minor details. Even if it were low mileage and perfect, it isn't as collectable or unique as "1 of 2" makes it sound.

There are probably a few thousand black on black verts on the road, yours is probably one of 2 that has factory clear coat protection or something stupid like that.

Rarity only makes sense when you are talking about the cars that are just so high up in exclusivity scale. Is it a Nicky Camaro? Is it a GMMG build? Dont worry about it, remember if you mod the car you are building it for yourself; if you keep it stock you are repairing it for someone else.

My car is a legit 1 of 2
only search parameters i used are
Sebring Silver
SS
Hardtop
Arctic White leather interior
1 was an M6 (mine) the other was A4... and i plan to mod the hell out if it.. but im keeping the stock seats and having them recovered white, and not changing much else appearance wise so that its still unique... not many hardtop SS cars to start with.

I used to have a "rare" fbody. I had a 94 camaro 1LE. There were only 135 1LE's built that year. I loved the car stock, but after a head/cam swap, i loved it even more. Build it, make it your own, and enjoy the hell out of it.
