Default ~ Front end and hood latch support bar broken - need advise ASAP ~

In short, room mate borrowed car and got it stuck. It apparently didn't click that attaching a chain to the front end support bar would have been a bad idea.

I already plan to go to the JYard tomorrow morning to look for replacement parts; I don't want to even try bending the metal as I'm sure Ill never get the alignment quite right. I think I can get that all figured out just fine, its the bolting it back up I find to be an issue.

See pic of where the bolt was completely ripped out of the cross member.

Any ideas, advise, guidance would be greatly appreciated.

I really dont want to weld on the bracket if I can help it. Im thinking that I could possibly drill a hole on the back side of the cross member and get a really long bolt that could go all the way through. Hopefully with the same thread as the current bolt so that I could use the metal piece that came though the cross member. This way it wouldnt be able to move around in the square hole. Good idea, bad idea?

Never said weld the bracket on. Weld a small piece of metal over the hole and drill thru that.

Err, sorry, Im slow sometimes. Still though, I dont know anyone who can weld. Even so, i think that would trow it off too much.

I just got back from the JYards and was able to find all the parts. So now Im going to try and run a long bolt all the way through. All I need to do is get it all apart and measure width and length.
