Good friend of mine wants to sell it because it just started a bottom end knocking noise.
He wants me to give him a fair price for it, which is where I'm stumped.

I probably would not rebuild. I would most likely strip her down, sell parts, keep the ones I want, etc etc.

That's scary. It sounds like F-body heaven is around the corner for this high mileage beast.
I wouldn't pay more than 'trade-in' value for a car like you describe which would put it in the $2,000 area.
