Default Head assembly question

I've got to measure piston to valve clearance and the push rod length I'm going to need. My question is since I'm going to tq down the heads to measure the rod length i need and then use those rods to check the valve clearance (take off the heads again then measure) am i going to need two sets of head gaskets or can I reuse the same ones even though they have been TQ down once when I checked the PR length?

You can reuse the same HGs as long as they don't stick after you tighten them down.

Out of curiosity, how radical is your build that makes you wonder about PTVC? It's rarely a problem in LT1s.

Pretty radical for me, Probably not for you guys. 383 LE2 heads//cam 242/248 .585/.580 110 lsa// block 0 decked w/ .026 head gaskets// JE flat top pistons with -5cc Valve relief// 12.79:1 compression. Think the clearance will be fine? If so I may just leave it and not mess with it.

Mine stuck so I needed to buy new ones.

Looks like you will be using the inexpensive Victor Reinz gaskets so its not a big deal to get a spare set. If you were running custom thickness cometics or something then to save a bit of cash I would get the cheapest size HG you can fine then just add or subtract the difference in compressed thickness from the ones you will be using for final assembly.

More around .005ish in the hole. I'm considering going with the felpro 1074's. .026s may end up being to thin.
