Default Car doesnt really spin the tires

This is a pretty stupid question but ive been pondering about it for a little while now. Just bought a 6 speed car with a built lq9 and its a fast car. Very torquey part throttle through the gears and sure does leap out from a 50 hit in 2nd gear. However, the car doesnt really spin the tires. The only suspension mod is lower control arms. Tires are brand new REGULAR nitto nt555's. The gear, which is what i think is the reason, are stock 3.42s. The car made 460/425 and i can believe that. It also must be pretty heavy with the iron block and my big *** in there. I can basically let out of the clutch, roll into first or stab first and it might glaze them for a little bit in the mid range (3-4000rpm) and thats about it.

Weird. I'm so used to my huge stalled auto cars that just broil 1-2-3. Lol. Not saying i want to destroy tires but i just dont know why it doesnt spin.

No traction control. I will have track times Saturday. It FEELS like a 120-122 MPH car to me, but then again i dont know. I know i can dump the clutch and destroy 1 and 2 but i'm just saying rolling or from a stop. Whatever, lol.

Umm so you can spin your tires then if you wanted to?

Did you think you'd be spinning them while slipping the clutch part throttle or from a roll?

i figured after engaging the clutch smashing it at 1800 RPM the car would spin, thats all.

Just rev it up to 2 grand, dump the clutch, and floor it. Its simple. If you still have the 10 bolt maybe you shouldnt

Yeah, 10 bolt haha. I know how to purposly do a burnout thats for sure. I just didnt think it would hook up that good with 400 rwtq by 3500 lol.

OP consider yourself lucky. Last Friday I got beat by a bolton LT1 corvette from a red light. I roasted the tires all the way to 3rd gear. Now on the 45 roll I lost count how many buses I put on him. My car is an 02 6spd H/C 3.90 gear made 445/432. Goes to show you if your spinning you aren't winning.

Haha yeah spinning isnt winning at all. I'm sure this car would do the same with 3.90s. The stock 3.42s are really brutally long. 60 MPH in 1st, almost 90 in 2nd and nearly 120 in 3rd. I guess these street nt555's are good street tires too.

I just started buying/getting into LS1's in the last year and a half - first one being a 6 speed 3.42 car like yours ,full bolt ons , long tubes ,true duals etc...saw previous owner crack 11's with it about 6 months before I bought it and having come from bolt on 3800 SC fwd cars the first thing I noticed was if you didnt build any rpm's you werent making power , once your over 3,000 rpm hang on ! but if your tooling along at 1500 rpm in first ad stomp it its unimpressive , its just not in its power range , with my bolt on fwd 3800 cars mashing it at 1500 rpm at 20 mph meant hundreds of feet of wheelspin and smoking side view mirrors lol different power delivery feeling.

Your stalled auto's would flash right up to where the LS1 starts getting happy , I have one of those too and like my 3800 cars you punch it and it goes up in a ball and keeps going.

you dont have to "dump" the clutch but a spirited release at 3,000 should put it sideways and on the limiter before you can say smokeshow mine does and again like yours I am on 555's (295/45/18's)

somthin sounds off... my buddys car is lid, ported tb and maf, AIR!, EGR! and an 02 with stock exhaust except for the muffler cut off with tubular rear control arms.. hes running 315/35/17 555's and he can absolutly ROAST them and if he eases into it and then punches it they will still spin a bit.. i can roast mine in 1st 2nd and chirp 3rd but im running 275's with full exhaust and a complete clutch setup.. i make around 350 wheel he's at about 320 wheel..

The cam is a torquer v2...232/234 and its in a 12:1 364...so it makes really good low end...the dyno graph shows peak torque around 4500 and HP around 6200...but down low its still pretty good.

Like everyone else said, spinning isnt winning. Ill see what it traps tomorrow!

I loved spinning my tires and doing burnouts when I was a kid. Now I just want the car to hook up and launch hard.

A good set of tires factors into how easily you break traction. Same goes for outside temps. Once temps dip into the 50's, traction especially on the street gets worse.

You're right. Maybe I'm assuming too much. Didn't expect to see something like a 28" tall street tire and with his cam peaking at 6200, didn't expect him to be spinning to 7k. I could be wrong but it just didn't sound logical to me.

My M6 w/3.42s and MT 265/40/18 DRs traps 117.6 @ 67-6800 so I'd have to
agree that the OP must have 3.42s also.....slightly taller tire, and heavier but
almost 100 more rwhp than mine.
