eaton tru trac posi question is it normal for a tru trac eaton posi in a gm 10 bolt to do this...
I have the rear end out of the car, and i am holding the yoke with my hand while spinning the axle shafts with the other, and the axle shaft are spinning but the yoke is not.
if i let go of the yoke and spin the axles they will both spin together.
is this normal. i was under the impression one cannot spin without the other.

Was the rear end completely failed in the car? Meaning was the driveshaft spinning but the car was stationary? .......Guess you kinda answered you're own question huh?

when you hold the yoke and spin the axle shaft is only 1 shaft spinning? if so, that is normal. i have one in the front of my jeep, and it does the same thing.
the tru trac is a centrifugal force driven limited slip, meaning that when spun up, the inside gears press themselves against the case and then smoothly connect both axles together. under light loads it is made to spin independently like that.
this is why they brake at the trac so much, cause they only connect the axle shafts together after the diff starts to spin, and not when sitting still. but for us jeep guys, it is an amazing little offroader
