Default 96 Impala LSX swap FS/FT

Year: 1996
Make: Chevrolet
Model: Impala
Price: $9500
Mileage: 122000
Private or Dealer Listing: Private Listing
Location (State): AZ
Color: Black
Transmission: Automatic
Drivetrain: Rear Wheel Drive
LS Engine?: Car has LS engine

This is an original dry AZ car. Motor and trans is a stock low mileage LS1 and 4L60E from a 2004 GTO which was professionally converted into this car by PRK Automotive in Mesa (call and speak to Phil if you'd like to know anything about the swap.) . Unfortunately the car sat outside for the last couple of years and needs some cosmetic attention, needs paint and some light ding repair, the front seats are torn up from sitting outside in Az, dash is cracked otherwise it is in pretty good shape for its age. Brand new front tires, rears are great. The car runs extremely strong and drives, brakes, and turns very well. I have the original window sticker and it has a clean and clear title. PM me for any additional info or my phone # if interested. Price is OBO and way less than what I have dumped in it. Might take part trade for something cool.

Sprayed the bumper( this is not professional work just did it so I can drive it without feeling bad)

I painted the roof again it is NOT perfect at all but is WAY better than before.

Did some color sanding and polishing on the car which got rid of alot of the oxidation and it actually looks pretty decent now.

Cool swap! Are you sure the engine and trans are out of a GTO? Sure looks like there is a plug where the EGR is on the intake indicating that the engine is probably out of an older camaro. Also what heads are on the engine? I'm interested but at that price I'll need much more information.

I guess I can't technically say that I'm 100 percent sure its out of a gto I do know it was converted over to dbc and the harness and ecm were from a gto. I originally bought this car with the LS 1 already in it and was planning to use just the motor and trans for a different project but I just didn't have the heart to cut up the Impala so I ended up spending way too much money to have it finished right. I forget the casting number on the heads but I posted it in a previous thread I'll see if I can find it..pm me if you're interested and we can find out anything you want to know

I was informed by the PO that the motor and trans were out of his bosses wrecked GTO but now after doing a little research I'm wondering if he was full of $***. Can any of you LSX Gurus tell me how to identify what version of LS1 I have in this car please so I can advertise it correctly. Regardless of what it came out of however the car runs STRONG has good compression and does not smoke or burn oil whatsoever. What I know about the motor is the casting # on the block is 12561168 and has 241 heads, it is also drive by cable which I was told they converted it because the GTO was DBW which matches the pcm that came with the car so I assumed it was legit. but we shall see I guess.

We had a bad oil pressure sending unit that was leaking so that fixed the oil leak. As far as the transmission goes I think the only problem was with the valve body but since its out already I'm just going to have them rebuild it anyway so we know what we have. That being said we should have the car by Saturday.

Here is a PDF of casting numbers. https://summitracing.custhelp.com/ci/fattach/get/44974/
Yours appears to be correct for an 04 GTO. Also, they did come with 241 heads. 243 heads came with the LS2s in 05-06. Not sure what to make of the intake through. Should be LS6.

Bump. I am having new front tires put on the car next week as well as a simple stereo system (Sony deck and 4 Sony Xplode speakers ). This will pretty much complete the car so it is pretty much daily driver status. Now have about 13k in it. Any interest? Offers? Maybe even some type of trade?

Bump to the top. New pics added to first post! I am working on color sanding and polishing the paint up on the car I believe it is going to come out pretty nice looking for a 17 yr old car.
