Overheating LS1 04 GTO engine
I removed rad cap from my Be Cool rad. Cleaned and Reinstalled. Took car for a ride. after 5 miles temp went from 200 to 250. stopped, opened cap and ran car for 3 minutes. Installed cap car ran fine for 5 minutes then temp climbed back to 250. No leaks, fans working. Could removing the cap cause this much trouble?
This LS1 is in a 48 Chev. has 200r tran headers otherwise stock 5.7

Check to see if the liquid level in the rad is where it should be. Maybe you need to add some antifreeze mixture.
The water pump may be defective. If the pump is not pumping or working badly, then the coolant fluid is not circulating as it should and the motor will get too hot. The pump may be operated by a belt, so it could be a belt issue, too.

Thanks
Added some fluid, made sure cap tightand made sure reservoir had 1/3 fill.
Seems to be running right now at 200-205 temp.
Basic maintenance Who would've guessed
