How are your parking lights, turn signals, hazards, and backup lights?

If all other functions work (parking lights, turn / hazard / reverse), then check the brake switch by the pedal.

X2 this happened to my skyline and all i could think was wtf? Turns out theres a hole on the pedal arm and has a plastic plug to hit the switch. 22 year old plastic breaks. Not sure about your car but if the pedal switch is fine get your multimeter out and start troubleshooting.
