Default Head/cam advice.

I have decided to go with a TSP 224r cam with the 5.3 heads. They come with pushrods and springs and I know I will need gaskets and cam lube. Is there anything that I should need as well?

Dont half a$$ it... thats the biggest thing
be smart and replace stuff with the following
LS7 lifters
LS2 timing chain
Head Bolts (arp or Katech)
oil pump, a ported or high flow

these little things add up but i wouldnt do a H/C setup without them... its added insurance that i would really like to have in a cammed Daily Driver

I have heard if it has low miles ( mine has 34k ) that a new oil pump is not really needed. Is that true or blown smoke.

You heard wrong, regardless of how new the pump is you don't want to possible starve the build of oil, for the $100-150 bucks don't skimp. Don't forget bigger fuel injectors, trunion upgrade and LS2 lifter treys

buy the TSP gasket kit for a head/cam swap.get a ls2 timing chain if the oil pump is coming off.you can take the chance and retain your stock pump and chain will work.who will tune it ?consider a mail order from Frost.

Ah. That sounds like a must then. Better safe than sorry. And for that price who could argue haha. I am not sure yet. It's hard for me to access the internet so I have not looked that far into it. When I get back to the states it will be cramming time then haha. I'm just trying to get the basic idea right now, but I will for sure look into frost

Better yet ask TSP to cut you a deal of everything your gonna need to complete the job. Your gonna need everything from new head bolts to a free T shirt that they ought to include in the deal too! Hey TSP do you have any T Shirts with pockets yet?
