Anyone on here use a 5.3 with a procharger? I had the idea of getting a cheap stock 5.3 and throwing in a blower cam and possibly using a p1 or d1sc with it. I wouldnt start doing this for a little while but was just curious. the motor I currently have in my car is a stock internal ls1 and im just worried that the ls1 will be weaker than an iron 5.3 when more than say 5# is put through it. Am I over cautious about using a stock ls1 or would it be ok?

Your close, my buddies ls1 went bad w/ 7ibs after 2 or so years. A 5.3 would hold up better, but with forged rods and pistons in your ls1 you will be good to 600-700 hp before you have to worry about the block. The real questions is what is you hp goal? Don't look for how many ibs to push, look for a hp goal and a compression ratio w/ boost to get your goals.
