Default Cam and head question

Okay so I will be installing a cam in my car soon, but I've read up that people usually install heads and cams at the same time? Can you run a aftermarket cam on a stock head? And will the stock head be strong enough to run a 75 shot with the cam? (LS1)

There are tons of cam only cars, and a 75 shot is nothing to worry about.

you will need the correct springs for the cam you install .you will need better push rods ,and consider a ls2 timing chain.if you have high miles on the motor consider new lifters.check out thunder racing or Texas Speed for cam kit.
