Parking lights?

Kinda a dumb question but here goes lol. How come I can't turn my parking lights on without my headlights popping up?

The front running lights are on whenever you drive, but can't you just turn the light switch 1 click to the right? That turns on the fender lights and rear tail lights and it doesn't pop up the headlights

The headlights should not pop up on park light selector. Sounds like a short if they are.

If your head lights are popping up, it is time for a gear change.

They pop up if you turn the switch all the way on and stay up even if you go back to the running light position. They should not however, not pop up if you go from off to running light.
