Anyone use an oil cooler?
I found this very interesting: In the new Super Chevy, they have an install article on an oil cooler for the LS1. It uses a sandwich adapter that the filter screws onto, then connecting to the block like normal. It has two lines coming out of the adapter going to a cooler in front of the radiator, very much like a tranny cooler. Anyone ever used one? Sounds like a good idea.

if you road race it is essential. I did some track days in 99 before I prepped my car, and the oil temp would be a sustained 300+ for 20 - 30 minutes, which is terrible for an ls1 in several ways.
after the cooler she runs around 220 degrees, a huge plus for the engine. there are several ways to plumb a cooler (integral with coolant radiator, stand alone, plumbed direct to block, using sandwich adapter, etc). if going with a stand alone cooler, I recommend installing a tstat, as you will run (way) too cold a lot, which is also bad for your motor, and in the winter (or any cool weather) will never get enough heat into your oil.
