Best stock clutch replacement for a daily driver 02 T/A?
I'm in the market for a new clutch and up until now I've been buying these $400 clutch with flywheel included kits from Pep boys. I know they're garbage but I was broke. Well now i'm not and i'm interested in something really comfortable and just a step above factory.
Nothing too difficult as i drive this car every day. That said, it's a 2002 Trans Am Collector Edition with a stock T56, pushing somewhere between 340-380 hp, and with 4.10 differential gearing (i know, crazy for a daily but whatever, i bought it with them and they're too much fun to replace with stock)
I'd love to purchase from a sponsor so please recommend the best clutch to your knowledge for my situation and where to get it. also i'm not looking to spend more than $450 including shipping on it and i'd really prefer not to have to deal with any adapters and weird additional hardware. stock bolt on replacement please.
ps: i know nothing about installing one or anything beyond the basics of how it works and won't be installing it myself so please don't drown me with technical lingo, i won't get it, haha. Thank you everyone.

hmm...

I'd buy that right now, but is it a direct bolt on for a 2002 T/A??

ah, i'll probably order it tomorrow then, unless another reply states a different approach. is it lighter than the stock ls1 clutch and flywheel?
On the one hand the z06 is more of a performance vehicle so i would think so, but on the other hand it's more powerful and the weight would be less of a factor.... hmm, i'll have to do some research on this.

yeah, i was just reading about the problems with the ls7 vs the monster stage 1 on a thread which lead me here: http://www.tickperformance.com/monst...-capacity-450/
it does come with a flywheel as well so it's not a bad kit for the price but if i have to replace a cylinder too my install cost will be higher. not crazy about that... Edit: well now i'm reading that you really should replace the slave with every new clutch... i had to replace both the master and the slave with the current clutch install about 2 years ago. guess i'm due for a replacement?

As for replacing the slave, it is generally accepted that replacing it with a clutch swap is a good idea. If the old slave craps out after you install the new clutch, you'll be pulling the transmission right back out, so you'll be doing most of the labor twice. The master cylinder does not really fall into this category...if it goes out, you don't have to pull the transmission, so if you are trying to save money, this would be the area to look at (as in, don't replace the master unless you are having a problem with the current one).

I have had the LS7 Clutch for about 4 years now (8k miles) and I love it. It is a heavy clutch, but it hasn't ever slipped with my bolt on LS1 (nor should it) and it drives like a stock clutch should. I got mine for $500.00 with 15 miles on it from a take off at a shop. It bolted right up. I'd recommend a remote bleeder while your there.

Cant believe i missed this thread. Im also gonna be ordering a clutch on monday, since tickperformance is closed on the weekend.
Mines a bolt on WS6 with plans for small cam and heads in the future. Im going for the monster stage 2 with slave, lightweight flywheel, and GM bolts.
