What would stop the top of the motor from getting oil?
I have a hydrolic H/C car and I am not getting any oil to the lifters or above. The cam however is getting plenty of oil, and I have 60psi on cold start up, 45psi @ idel when warm.

With the car running there is no oil coming from up top with the valve covers off. It may very well be a bad bearing. The lifters will not pump up, but the cam appears to be O.K. I drove the car this way about 40 miles and it did not lock up.

When I did the heads/cam mods on my 98 WS6, I was told there would be a lot of valvetrain noise up top for a few minutes due to lack of oil. Could this be what you are talking about, or have you run it for a few minutes? My WS6 was extremely noisey on startup for about 2 minutes(oil pressure read fine) and then there was a sharp decrease in noise(I assume that was the oil finally making it up there). My buddies car did the exact same thing on start up after we swapped the package onto his car.

As far as the valvetrain noise goes, have you checked your valvetrain geometry?
We just found another car with Yella Terra rockers that had some serious geometry issues. The original installer did not check the valvetrain geometry and now the owner of the car has a ruined set of Yella Terras and a beat up retainer/valvestem combination. The rocker tip was actually rolling off the valvestem and onto the retainer.

The main oil galley is the lifter galley so your pressure reading is a great thing. The TD rockers can cut off the oil supply if you run the adjuster to close to the seat. Other than that the lifters having a problem or the pushrods not being drilled is the only thing I can think of.

In the last issue of the "Chevy Rumble" magazine, they said that the oil galley plug can back out of it's place a little under heavy load and hit against the back cover. They fixed it by welding a little bump stop so there is no clearence b/w the plug and the cover. They said it's bad b/c you'll still have a good pressure reading, but the oil wouldn't be circulating properly to the top. Anybody else read about that?
