ls1 Chevelle vs turbo 260z and ls1 swap 280z
Runs on the way home from the strip...in Mexico. Wish we could have got lower rolls but didn't want to block traffic
Mods in sig on mine, 1 passenger and all my tools and sub was in the car, estimated weight at 3900lbs total. At 3650lb raceweight it ran 11.67@115mph, changed tune and it was trapping 117mph but couldn't hook due to poor prep.
260z (ran a low 13@111mph on a shakedown then broke an axle next pass): l28 from later model turbo ZX of some sort, Holset turbo, 16# boost
280z( ran 12.2 @116 leaving and shifting easy to not also break an axle): 98 ls1 block, 799 heads milled but no porting (.025" I think, maybe .030"), custom long tubes, CAI routed in front of radiator, stock tune
Run 1: 65mph roll 260z gets hit I leave put mine in D (280z is stuck behind me but follows along anyway)
Passenger in 260Z counts it down and I leave on his hit, even until he shifts and I pull 3/4 a car, hold even until he misses a gear around 100mph
Run 2: realized it wasn't going to be a puppy kicking so I slowed to 55mph and dropped to 2nd
His passenger counts it again and I punch it even with him and pull nearly a car, shift to 3rd and he doesn't miss a gear this time, we stay pretty even then I start a slow slow pull up to 130mph and lift about 1 1/4 cars out front
On this one the 280z was still behind me but hit it with us and locked up pretty much dead even with me until he lifted at just under 120mph
