Default most cost effective gains for heads on LS7

Looking to do some headwork on my vette and was wondering if I should get the stock heads ported and milled or spend the extra coin for the more expensive MAST or WCCH heads.

It looks like I could get a 20-30rwhp gain for around 1300 bucks getting my heads reworked. It doesn't seem reasonable to spend another 2000 bucks for another 10-20rwhp with the aftermarket heads.

I would appreciate any input from where I can the most bang for my buck as I don't have a large car budget like a lot of people on here

I was wondering the same thing. Got a buddy in my car club with a 2007 Ron Fellows edition C6 Z06 who's looking to do some upgrades soon so we're looking for options.

Give Richard at WCCH a call he will let you know whats best based on your goals and budget. You will need a cam to go with the heads..

^^^^This.

The LS7 heads are very good heads to begin with as is the intake manifold.

What about compression?! We're out in california where we only have 91 octane and the summers in Sacramento get pretty damn hot. Would milling the heads be worth it?! How much would that limit PTV clearance?! I'm assuming Richard at WCCH also specs custom cams to match the heads?! Is it worth porting the factory intake manifold of just upgrade to a F.A.S.T.?! 1 7/8 LT's seems to be the standard but at what point would it be worth to go with 2" primaries?! Sorry for the hijack lol

PTV clearance is fine since the pistons are cut already.

My friend has WCCH heads and made 580rwhp on a mild cam. I went with PRC heads for a bit more ($3k-$1300 for selling stock heads) and I'm happy with them.

2" if you are going FI, otherwise 1 7/8" are plenty IMO. I made 915rwhp through 1 7/8" with PRC 285cc heads and a Ysi blower.

It all depends on how much tolerance you have for compromise, i have non so i spend the money once.
The PRC 285 will give you boost like power, cause yolo "you only live once".

Cool so sounds like 1 7/8" is what we'll go with. Any details on the specs of the cam used?!

IMO; you've answered your own question here. Putting a new engine together I was able to justify the expense of aftermarket heads (Mast). I believe; had I already owned a set of LS7 heads, I would have just went with porting them.
