how much radiator is needed?
ok, so I am about to rework my engine bay in my truck for my turbo build, but my huge factory 4 core radiator is taking up some valuable space. I am looking to do a smaller aluminum radiator off to the side so I cam mount the turbo up front. I have a stock 5.3 on pump gas. truck will mostly see track duty, but with some street action as well. weekend cruising, occasionally driven to work. just wondering if anyone has experience with using a smaller rad or knows how to figure cooling system needs. truck currently doesn't go over 180 and doesn't even have a t-stat in it. I do have 2 10" fans on it that are set on a short temp range cycle, and they do not run for very long at a time. so I know I have more cooling system than I need now. just wondering how small I could safely go

well, the current radiator is copper/brass and about 24x36" and 4 cores. way overkill IMO. I think I could get the same cooling capacity from a smaller aluminum rad. without hurting anything. I'm just wondering what size aluminum radiator would be about equivalent, or atleast would be enough
