Default 99 ta lq4

Hello everybody i have come to this site alot in the past and it has helped but ive got a few questions regarding my newest toy purchased...???
I recently bought a 99 Trans Am with the LQ4 longblock swap. I was told it had the LS6 heads,LS6 Upper, MS3 Cam, Long tube headers w full borla exhaust, its auto w 3600 stal. Obviously i confirmed the headers and exhaust but how can I find out if everything else he stated is true. And do the LQ4s have forged internals..?? I am also getting ready to put a 150 shot on it as well or is this not a good idea with what I have mentioned that I have and Im working with..?? And obviously im not going to just install the NOS and hope for the best I am going to have the car tuned before its used bc a timing/fuel etc etc... Please help me here and I thank you for your time...

Look at the casting # on the front of the heads and report back. The LQ4 should be Iron vs Aluminum block. Not sure if the 6.0L casting is on the front or back of the block. The LQ4 doesn't have forged pistons, cast dished piston 9.5:1 compression. You would have to degree the cam to get the specs, or pull it to see if the back is engraved.

It does not have LS6 heads, those would have been 243 heads with the sodium filled exhaust valves and. Your 317 heads came on 01 and up LQ4s and LQ9s so they are the stock heads that came with that LQ4. That engine will handle a 150 shot all day long as long as it has a good tune.

Well thats where my next question comes into play. We started the tune end of last season here got everything installed and I was running out fuel at roughly 3800 rpms when we were doing the wot pulls.. Would you think that its an issue with my injectors or would you think fuel pump..?? There are red 30 lb injectors ( I Think thats the lb rating) in the car as of now and im assuming stock fuel pump...??????

I think your pump is going out, your tuner would have told you if the injectors were maxed out. Get a walbro 255 in the tank with a hot wire kit. Change the filter as well. The 30# injectors should be fine for N/A tuning, you should not have been loosing fuel pressure at that rpm. You may have to get some 42#ers or some 60#ers for the 150 hit... Not a NO2 guy, so I can't advise.

Yea I was gonna get 60s or 80s that way I don't have to replace them again wen I turbo the car.. Just haven't got that far yet kinda wanna play with NO2 for a bit. I think the way the motor is set up now it'd work nicely wit NO2 n pretty sure the motor is gonna need rebuilt w lower compression for a turbo but I'm not sure..! At 9.5-1 would that b turbo friendly..??

9.5:1 compression very turbo friendly and for a street car I wouldn't go any lower. The motor I'm building right now is going to be 9.7:1 compression and 14 #'s of boost. (street car only).

No turbo, running a Procharger setup. Do A-LOT of home work before you go FI. Budgets and boost don't play nice together, and there is a ton of choices in the forced induction world.
