Default 4.8 and 5.3's

im seeing 4.8 and 5.3s all over the place making STRONG power on "stock bottom end"
is it really that easy? with supporting fuel, ecu and suspension i could go out and get a 5.3 truck and add a turbo and make 700hp no problem?
I would like to be educated on this matter as im use too my little 5.0 popping at 450-500hp

does it matter iron block vs aluminum block?

any helpful info about these engines would be appreciated

The 5.3L has been throwing out some big #'s lately. The fuel and tune is where its at. I think one of the biggest reasons the 5.3 is being pushed so far is because they are cheap and very available. if you blow it up just go get another 300 -500 engine and swap it out.

The 9.5:1 compression of the 5.3L is also boost friendly.

5.3s have lower compression that say an ls1/2/3/6 so they tend to have more room for error. 4.8s have the similar lower compression but also a shorter stroke which = thicker piston crown. This has even more room for error and survivability than the other common LS engines.

i see and the lq9 heads add to the lower compression correct?
I keep on seeing 5.3s with 6 liter heads and a thunder racing cam and that combo seems very strong on boost.

So basically the better the tuner you get the more HP you can crank out of a Lm4 and 7.

5.3 with ls1 heads and forged bottom can hold anything and push 700hp with a mild cam, 3\8 push rods and intake. my neighbor put one in his Buick. he wanted 500whp and with his garret 45 turbo tuner told him he'd push 700 no problem and not mess anything up. all iron lsx blocks are camps tho.
