Berger Panel
ok guys I got the itch. Ive seen many many cars with the berger panel mod and its come time to dive into another project. Now with that being said, I am nowhere near a "great" rattle can painter so heres the question. Where would be the best place to find a replacement berger panel so I can attempt this task? Anyone on here have one they want rid of? Also whats the best/easiest way of doing it? I was told somewhere that wet sand with 800/wash off/ let dry/ spray with satin black fusion paint. That sound about right?

I kept my factory one just in case I wanted to change it back. Picked up a used panel from a junk yard of a v6 car for $20 bucks. I took mine to a shop and he sprayed it for me for $50 bucks. But if you wanted to paint yourself that procedure sounds about right to me. There is also a write up for this mod if you search.

yea im thinking that may be the best bet. I take it the 6cyl and the z28 are the same panel aside from the badges. And the body shops around here must use 24kt gold paint because they wont apply touch up paint for less then 100 bucks or so.

Just a question here...are the Berger panels satin black? I have a Artic white camaro and i was thinking gloss black. Top half of the car is gloss black and the rest of the car is white. Were they satin or gloss? Or is it up to the person and the feel of the car when u look at it? Thanks.

Step 1: find a parts car
Step 2: clean it with soap and water and then degreaser
Step 3: sand with 800 grit (make sure you you get the crevaces well)
Step 4: clean it with degreaser
Step 5: spray it. Do light coats
Pretty simple really, i ve plastidipped two of these for my car, one normal and one shaved. Its more of preference, gloss vs semi.

i like the carbon fiber look but with it only being the spoiler being a black color going into the rear fenders i think it would look a little weird. maybe if you blended the color into the fender

I took my off and scuffed it up with the burgundy scotch brite you can get from AutoZone. Then I took Simple Green, sprayed it down real good, wiped it down and hosed it off. I sprayed mine with the Duplicolor trim paint. Looks like a nice professional satin paint job and not a crappy flat black rattle can job. I did this back in in '08 and still looks just as good as the day I sprayed it until this day.
