McLeod clutch question
Can somebody explain to me why the steel flywheel option costs more than billet aluminum? I'm sure I'm overlooking something....
Aluminum: $1339
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/mc...-07m/overview/
Steel: $1489
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/mc...-07m/overview/
This will be used in an LS3 and F-body T56 application. Is this the correct kit? If not, can someone please provide the correct part number.
I also plan on getting a new GM slave, TOB, and LS1 pilot bearing. Is there anything else I am forgetting?

Can't help with pricing but in my application (heavy truck) I went with the steel flywheel.
I did the RST and I have been more than pleased. Mods in sig. No shim required, I used all the parts the OP listed except I had a GTO bell so I needed to switch to the GTO starter.
There is a thread somewhere about the measurements that need to be taken to determine if a shim is required. You should always double check the measurements!
Just spun a main on my LQ9 so mine is coming out. I am interested to see how the organic discs have held up after close to 10k of AWD burnies
One more thing - get a STEEL alignment tool. DDs are a bitch to properly align!
Also my understanding is McLeod will allow you to upgrade from organic (RST) to ceramic (RXT) for a portion of the cost of a new clutch. Going to explore this when I get my 408 going...

I spoke with a Mcleod representative and he will be revising these prices because he agrees they don't make much sense. The Mcleod customer service is fantastic by the way. I was told the RXT clutch is the same regardless of what motor you are using it with, and will only work with an LS1 style flywheel. For the LS3 I was recommended the following part numbers if anyone is interested:
RXT clutch 6932-07
Billet steel flywheel 460530
