LT1 exhaust note thread
Hey guys. Im new to the site and want to introduce you to my car alittle before I ask a few questions.
Its a 94 dark blue Z
LT1 bone stock
A4
2.73 gears
American Racing torque thrust wheels
160 stat
K&N air filter stock housing
Summit Racing crome intake elbow
Gutted out Cat
That is pretty much it.
Im looking into doing some mods and my main focus is the exhaust & the tranny and rear end. But first I want to ask a question about a certain exhaust note im trying to achieve along with some power. Im looking for a more high rpmish sound little on the raspy side but on the european side instead of the usual muscle, big block growl sound. I was thinking Pacesetter or ARH LT’s with true duals, X-pipe, no cats, and moroso spiral mufflers or none. Edit if you will. I have the rectangular tips and would like to keep those. The double tube tipped or tubed tips are too cliche. My budget is only $1200. Here are my goals as far as sound.
Please post your thoughts on what exhaust system route I should go!

But its strange because all the LS1’s and LT1’s ive ran into there were for example, 2 cars that had the exact same exhaust set-up and 1 of them will sound completely different then the other
Its almost like you have to wish & hope for luck to get a certain sound out of the car. ??

longtubes/ory and slp loudmouth will get you what you want with a 1200 budget
my car is incredibly loud and higher rpms on the throttle certainly has a real loud race car like tone as the cars in the video. A nice cam will make it sound a lot better also haha

my vote is for corsa. it seems to have more different tone of most LT1 muffler options. most are deep.. my corsa is a little more higher of a pitch.
as for slp loudmouth.. i dont like it at all honestly. you really need to hear everything in person but thats always hard to do.
im in Vancouver, WA but probably not close enough for you to hear my corsa. Then again im usually close to no one unless i actually post in the NW thread lol

I took off my gutted out cat and disconnected it from the stock Y pipe and it was loud as hell and sounded like ****. It sounds like a clunker at idle but sounds like a truck with stock manifold and no muffler or cat. Not to mention everything shakes when disconnected from the cat and it backfires and pops like crazy. Stock system sound way better then straight pipe with stock manifolds.

You know what I mean. Lol Im just looking for a different sound like these LT1’s in the video. Kinda like a straight pipe sounding S65 engine for example (BMW). Thats just an example. Just you know not so big block sounding but a high rpm small block V8 sound. But so far my list to go with is pricey but I hear nothing but good things about american racing headers, true duals, with pipe mufflers for better flow and Electronic Cutouts. Anyone who has true duals please post your vids

This ZR1 is the sexiest sounding vette on earth. Love if I could get my LT1 near that type of note. This LT1 comes close but its cammed & stroked which cam is next on my list but will take a few months to get my budget enough for a cam swap. But for the bolts on I wont be expecting anything more then 10CHP. Maybe 5 RWHP gain?! Shed a 2 or 3 tenths or so from the 1/4

I should do a search before I post this but how many of you LT1’s have true duals w/ X-pipe or E cutouts? Please someone post your pics. I hear they are a pain in the A$$ to fit. Prove me wrong!
