Default Ls3 headed 370 cam question

I have picked up a 230/248 .613 .617 lsa 114+4 cam from another member on here, I am wondering if anyone has tried anything around this or have any ideas or opinions on it.

The car is a 2001 firebird, the motor has -2cc valve relief wiseco pistons and the LS3 heads are not milled. It is infront of a built 4L80 and 3600 stall with 3.73 gears out back on a 28" tall tire.

It is not a street machine, and I want to play around with this combo alittle, I do have a plate kit and plan to spray 200 ontop of the motor, and maybe more later on down the track, like another 200 after the 330' mark.

From my understanding this cam was a Nelson racing cam, it was in a 416ci build, and might be on the large side for my setup.

Let me know what you think..

I know my next cam Will be something with a little more thought into valve events etc to get my mid range back. We have an extremely similar setup.. About as close as you can get.

Im running a 231/236 tspeed ls3 grind and now have a 3500 converter so i can hit it with a 200. It really shows how much this cam is lacking in the mid range. Pulls awesome up top but lacks mid range. Correct cam with make it pull like a cathedral setup in the mid range.

What I've learned from this initial setup with a similar build to yours.. In an ls3 smaller displacement motor, cam selection is EVERYTHING.

Purpose little 370s aren't going to ha e the low and mid range with ls3s as say a 408-427 motor. I say pass and get a custom specd from someone who has proven their knowledge with ls3 grind and smaller cubes.

I agree on the custom cam part. Have someone like Martin at Tick Performance or Ed Curtis at Flowtech Inductions custom spec you cam based on your current mods and what you are looking to get out of the car. I agree with Lemons that the mid range issues can be solved with the right cam.

Thanks, I'm going to use this as a good start/baseline, see what it does at the track then go from there... Thanks for all the input, and I'll post results as soon as I get it out to the track
